Tufts Library Environmental Graphics

Tufts Library | Weymouth, MA

The Tufts Library is a new construction project that sought to bring an outdated 1970s library into the 21st century with updated technology, sophisticated programs for after-school opportunities, and a refined adult nonfiction and local history area that represent the town of Weymouth’s diverse community within its walls.

I was tasked with designing graphics for the children’s spaces, teen area, digital media hub, adult nonfiction, and local history.

I illustrated and designed all of these graphics and took and edited the photo of the lake used in the historical archive rooms mishoon display. This mishoon is an actual dug-out trunk used by the Wampanoag Indians of the region dating back to the time of the Pilgrims in Plymouth.

The digital media hub (box) on the second level is wrapped with binary code to meet visibility code requirements, but they also contain these three messages in binary:

“Think outside the box.”
”Discover. Learn. Create.”
”Hello, World!”
